Religion & the left

I have heard many people ask "so what's the big deal about gay marriage?" True, it seems innocuous enough, but given a deeper look, there is much more beneath the surface.
Marriage is a union in the eyes of god which is sanctioned by the church. Marriage was created by religion for the religious. The government attached itself to the concept of marriage for monetary gain. In order to understand why government getting involved in marriage is such a big deal, one must understand that the church is in direct competition with the government...especially the left.
The church gives man a foundation on which he can be self governing. A religious person lives by a set of self imposed rules established by that religion, has a support system in the church family and will likely not ask for support from the government. This is where the left sees religion as an affront to big government. If all Americans believed in god, belonged to a church and tithed, there would be little need for government entitlement programs.
So when you hear the left pushing gay marriage, what they are really doing is attacking the Christian faith and religion. By devaluing religion they are diminishing it's legitimacy in an attempt to turn people away from the church and to the government. Know this, socialism and god cannot co-exist. All socialist countries have been largely atheist countries...by design. In order to establish socialism one must do away with religion.
